Ralph Bond, Jr., 65, of rural Emporia, Kansas, died Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Newman Regional Health, Emporia.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years Monica Bond; a son, Scott Bond (Pamie) of Pensacola, Florida; daughters, Stephanie Taylor (Jesse) of Emporia, and Kelly Robbins (Ian) of Topeka; brother, Walter Bond of Atkins, Arkansas; sisters, Tressa Keeling of Clinton, Arkansas, and Rhonda Bond and Kathy Hubbard both of northwest Arkansas; and grandchildren, Mikaela Herrick, Hanna Herrick, Mack Bond, and Liam Robbins.

Ralph was born on August 26, 1949 in Payson, Utah the son of Ralph and Faye Hansen Bond, spending most of his youth in Russellville, Arkansas. He married Monica Lensing Kelleher on July 4, 1970 in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Anna Patterson-Sloan.

Ralph was an electrician at Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant in Burlington, Kansas. He served in the United States Navy aboard the USS JUNEAU, was an avid pilot, and the Young Eagles Coordinator for the local chapter 1535 of the Experimental Aircraft Association.

Ralph was a proud father and grandfather, always including family in his aviation adventures. From RC planes to building his first plane in the basement of the family home, Ralph was passionate about his hobbies. In fact, Ralph was passionate about life. Ralph never knew a stranger, never had a bad day, and lived life to the fullest.

The visitation will be Thursday evening, February 26, 2015 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. Cremation will follow the visitation, with a Celebration of Life at 10:00 A.M., Friday, February 27, 2015 at the Emporia Municipal Airport Community Hangar, Emporia. Feel free to dress casually and warmly.
