Ramona Aguilar, Emporia, Kansas, died Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Emporia Presbyterian Manor, Emporia, at the age of 77.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia, at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 21, 2012 with Father Ray May, celebrant. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Emporia. The rosary will be recited at the church Friday evening, July 20, 2012 at 7:00 P.M.
Ramona Tabares, the daughter of Modesto and Juana (Rodriguez) Tavares was born in Emporia on June 11, 1935. She married Fred J. Aguilar at Emporia on July 2, 1955. He died February 23, 2012.
Surviving family members include: sons, Fred and John, both of Emporia; daughters, Rachel Guerrero and Sandra Hale, both of Emporia, Diana Gonzales, Garden City, Kansas, and Mona Lancaster, Fort Smith, Arkansas; brothers, Ignacio and Anthony Tabares, Emporia; sisters, Virginia Lopez, Phyllis Alvarado, Ernestina Ramirez, Mary Harris, and Margaret Henricks, all of Emporia, and Lupe Ryon, Americus, Kansas; twelve grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Frank and John Tabares, died earlier.
Mrs. Aguilar was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She had worked at Saint Mary’s Hospital, Emporia State University in Morris Hall, and at Spic-N-Span Laundry.
A memorial has been established with the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
