Ramona “Mona” Smith, a resident of Emporia, Kansas, died at her home on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at the age of 75.
Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held in the chapel of the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, on Friday, December 18, 2013 at 1:30 P.M., conducted by Pastor Austin Rivera, First United Methodist Church, Emporia. Eastern Star Services will be conducted by Miriam Chapter #14, Order of the Eastern Star. Interment will follow in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home an hour before service time.
Ramona Thimes was born at Emporia, Kansas on April 7, 1937, the daughter of John and Marian (Aikman) Thimes. She married Pearlie Smith on January 21, 1982. He died January 9, 1998.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her brother, Joe Thimes of Merriam, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Emporia, and also Miriam Chapter #14, Order of the Eastern Star. She was a graduate of Saffordville High School. She had been employed as a nurse’s aide at a nursing home in Council Grove and later at the former Saint Mary’s Hospital in Emporia.
