Ray Kenneth Colaw, Jr., 85, of Harlingen, Texas, died Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at the Harlingen Medical Center.
Ray was born March 1, 1929 at Rest, Kansas, the son of Ray Kenneth and Clara Caroline (Muninger) Colaw. He was a graduate of Emporia High School in Emporia, Kansas, and owned Colaw Auto Services.
He was well known for his passion for automotive perfection, lust for life, and love of animals. He enjoyed many activities from boating and fishing, to auto-racing, and was known for his acumen at chess, pool, and cards.
Ray married Florence E. Gunkel. He is survived by their daughter, Carolyn (Dennis) Murphy of Emporia. He later married Judith Carol Childers, and she preceded him in death. Other survivors include: brother, Frank E. Colaw of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandson, Anthony Joseph of Emporia; and two nephews, Frank D. Colaw of Henderson, Nevada and John Colaw of Las Vegas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. Pastor Lee Hoskins of Emporia will be officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service, Wednesday, December 31, 2014 from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
