Ray H. Woods, Jr., 81 of Overbrook, Kansas formerly of Neosho Rapids, Kansas died Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Doctors Hospital of Renaissance Health in Edinburg, Texas.
Ray was born April 19, 1936 in Emporia, Kansas the son of Ray Hulley and Ruth B. (Shellman) Woods. Ray was a farmer and a welder. He served 6 years in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #1980. Ray attended the Crossroads Cowboy Church in Perry, Kansas.
Ray married JoAnn Hinshaw and they later divorced. He then married Jean Terry. She survives of the home. Other survivors include son Edwin “Eddie” W. Woods and wife Sue Ann of Emporia, daughter Jonna White and husband Raymond of Kearney, Nebraska, grandchildren Megan Miller and husband Jake of Olpe, Kansas, Mindy Woods of Emporia, Corey Wilson, Caleb Wilson and wife Brittany, and Kenny Wilson all of Kearney, Nebraska, great-grandchildren Brandon Wilson, Brantley Wilson and Colt Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Jerald Ray Woods and a sister Edna Mae Briggs.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. Pastor Terry Newell of the Crossroads Cowboy Church will be officiating. Interment will be in the Chicago Mound Cemetery south east of Emporia. Military Honors by Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion and Lowry-Funston Post #1980, Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, December 22, 2017 at the funeral home.
