Rex L. Bailes, 64, of Emporia, Kansas, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Newman Regional Health, Emporia.
Rex Lee Bailes, son of Roy L. and Genevieve M. Davis Bailes, was born August 8, 1947 in Hardtner, Kansas. He married Vicky J. Rhodes on May 18, 2001, in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives of the home.
Other surviving family members include: one son, Rex Lee Bailes, Jr. of Raiford, Florida; one daughter, Sena Marie Bailes of Jacksonville, Florida; one stepson, Paul Brosemer of Emporia; one stepdaughter, Rebekka Marie Brosemer of Overland Park, Kansas; one sister, Karen Hudson of Emporia; two grandchildren, Nicklaus Bailes and Alec Bailes both of Raiford, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Richard “Bud” Bailes, and Billy Bob Bailes; four sisters, Betty Edmonds, Rita Mae Bailes, Judy Ritchie, and Linda Lickley.
Mr. Bailes had been a captain with the Florida Department of Corrections as a guard for twenty-four years, before retiring in 1994. While in Emporia, he also worked at Sutherland Lumber Company as a sales clerk.
Cremation is planned. A celebration of his life will be held at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 944 County Road 120, just west of the Emporia Municipal Airport. Memorial contributions to Autism Oasis in High Springs, Florida, may be sent in care of the funeral home.
