Rhett B. Unruh, 59, rural Emporia, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 19, 2023.
Rhett was born on July 9, 1963 in Emporia. He is survived by his mother; Ginger L. (Peak) Morris, Emporia, Kansas, his father and step-mother; Glenn and Diane Unruh, Strong City, Kansas, and his brother; Ty (Maegen) Unruh, Priest River, Idaho, sister; Shelly (Chris) Buhr, Milford, Iowa, niece and nephew; Alivia & Bryten Unruh. He is preceded in death by Grandparents; Olma and Velma Peak and Milford and Juanita Unruh.
Rhett went to Saffordville Grade School and graduated from Emporia High School. He was also a member of county 4-H. He worked at Emporia Livestock on and off for most of his life, starting at the age of 10 until present. He also drove a semi truck for many years hauling livestock, freight, and hay. Doing this he traveled over most of the United States. He loved working on cars, trucks, motors and more. Rhett loved his dog, Cow Boy, his best friend. He cared about his friends so much he would drop what he was doing and assist them with whatever they needed. He loved to tease people and joke with them with a smile and a laugh.
A graveside service will be held at the Hillside Cemetery, Toledo, Kansas on Monday, March 27, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. with the Celebration of Life following at 11:00 A.M. at the Saffordville United Methodist Church, just south of the cemetery. The family will receive friends at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, Sunday afternoon from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.
Memorial have been established with the Emporia Friends of the Zoo or the H. Dale Buck Animal Welfare Fund with contributions sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box #175, Emporia, Kansas 66801.
