Ricardo “Woody” Robledo of Emporia died on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Holiday Resort Care Center, Emporia. He was 93.
Woody was born on July 22, 1925 in Ft. Madison, Iowa the son of Marcelino and Simona Landeroz Robledo. He married Delia Juarez Roblez in May 1947 in Emporia. She died in 1959. He later married Alma D. Vrana Bazil on November 29, 1968 in Emporia, Kansas. She died on April 3, 2017 in Emporia.
Surviving family members include: sons, Victor (Angie) Robledo of Andover, Richard J. Robledo (Gloria) of Madera, California, and Charles E. Robledo of Houston, Texas; stepsons, Kim (Gita) Bazil of Palatine, Illinois, and Kurt (Candy) Bazil of Akron, Ohio; stepdaughter, Kathryn Adkins of Michigan City, Indiana; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his two wife’s, daughter Elizabeth Ann Cook, six brothers, and one sister.
Woody was the Foreman at the Emporia Municipal Airport many years and retired in 1987. He served in the United States Army in the Pacific, and was stationed overseas in New Guinea and was a member of Ball-McColm Post #5 American Legion.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 21, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia with burial following with military honors at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia. The rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m., Thursday night at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. Memorial contributions to Hand in Hand Hospice can be sent in care of the funeral home.
