Richard D. Hubert, Jr.

Richard “Dick” D. Hubert Jr. 71, Emporia, Kansas passed away on February 18, 2026, at Newman Regional Hospital in Emporia.

Dick was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on September 3, 1954, the son of Richard D. and Marjorie Jeanne (Briggs) Hubert. He graduated from Emporia High School in 1972. He married Debra “Debbie” Mounkes on March 12, 1982, in Las Vegas, Nevada and were married for 44 years. They were members of the First Christian Church in Emporia, which gave him peace and comfort.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Hubert and a very well loved pup, Tripod of the home. Sister Vicki Love (Mike), Neosho Rapids, Barb O’Connor (Neil) Vassar, Kansas. Also surviving are his children Haley, Dodge City, Kansas, Jase (Hannah), Olpe. Beloved Grandchildren, Jentry and Holden.

Dick was a lifelong home builder in the community and beyond. He was a very talented person, and everyone looked up to him and his knowledge of the business. If he wasn’t building homes he was with Jase checking traps, in his boat catching fish, where he found his true passion, or in his shop catching up on the latest neighborhood news with friends. He enjoyed barbecuing and smoking all types of meats in the smoker. He was invested in the youth for their love and learning of hunting and fishing. He spent many hours with Jase and his friend’s hunting deer, turkey, pheasant and out on his boat fishing. He was very proud of Jase and his auctioneering; you could catch him listening to the cattle sales online during the week. Later in life you could find him (Pop) enjoying time with his grandchildren, as they ran about the house or climbing up on his lap to snuggle. They truly brought him so much joy.
