Richard Lee Lyons, 92, of Emporia, Kansas, succumbed to pancreatic cancer at Holiday Resort on July 13, 2016.
Richard was born in Wichita, Kansas, to James Taylor and Eva King Lyons. At the age of four, Richard and his family moved to the farm northeast of Emporia. Richard attended the Plum Creek Grade School and graduated from Emporia High School. Richard was a lifetime farmer on the family farm until he was forced to give up the work he loved due to his illness.
He was a member of the Countryside Baptist Church in Americus, Kansas, and a member of Gideon International.
Richard is survived by his wife Della May of 47 years; daughter, Linda Baker; grandsons, Allan D Baker and Jared L Fowler; many loving great-grandchildren; nephew, Steve Braun; nieces, Carolyn (Kirk) Duncan and Janice (Lee) Crawford; and extended family.
Richard was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to all.
He was preceded in death by his sister Frances Braun and brother-in-law Glenn Braun.

Richard’s funeral will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett, 605 State, Emporia, Kansas. The family will greet friends from 9:00 A.M. until the service time at the funeral home. The service will be conducted by Pastor Rick Smith of the Countryside Baptist Church in Americus and Pastor Micha Burt of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Emporia. Richard will be laid to rest at Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia, Kansas.
Memorial donations may be made in Richard’s name to The University of Kansas, Cancer Center for Research of Pancreatic Cancer.
