Richard William Ross, 74 of rural Lyon County died at his home October 25, 2017.

Richard was born June 20, 1943 in Dodge City, Kansas the son of Charles R. and Helen (Fredelake) Ross. He worked as a salesman for Pepsi in Emporia until his retirement. Richard then went to work in security at Tyson in Emporia. He served in the US Navy and enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf.

Richard married Marjorie Emley and they later divorced. He is survived by a son Danny Ross of Derby, Kansas, brothers Steve Ross of Wylie, Texas and Wayne Ross and wife Rhonda of Wylie, Texas, sisters Patricia Hutchinson and husband Jack of Rantoul, Kansas and Jacque Kraum of Arlington, Texas, grandchildren Joshua Ross and Brandon Ross, and great-grandchild Taiden Ross. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Charles Ross.

Graveside services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, November 3, 2017 at Blakely Cemetery in Madison, Kansas. Pastor Michael Stubbs of the Victory Fellowship Foursquare Church in Emporia will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia.
