Richard M. Schlup, Sr. 95, Emporia, passed away Monday, January 25, 2016 at Holiday Resort.
Richard Morse Schlup was born May 16, 1920 in Toledo Township, Chase County, Kansas, the son of Walter and Lena (Morse) Schlup. He married Doris Parker at Cottonwood Falls, Kansas on July 2, 1940. She died July 11, 1997.
Surviving family members include his daughters, Sharon Lambert, Emporia, and Jane Peabody, Austin, Texas; son, Richard Schlup, Jr. Emporia; brother, John Schlup, Manhattan, Kansas; as well as six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his wife; brothers, Floyd, Dale, Victor, and Ted; a sister, Audrey Fellman; and one grandchild.
Mr. Schlup was a machinist at Hopkins Manufacturing for 30 years, and had been retired for a number of years. He was a member of the former First Church of God.
Cremation is planned. Private services will be held later.
A memorial has been established with Emporia Friends of the Zoo, with contributions sent in care of the funeral home.
