Richard Lee Schneider, 75, of Olpe, Kansas, died on April 13, 2013 at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.
Richard was born on April 29, 1937, the firstborn child of Firmin and Addie M. Korphage Schneider. He is survived by two brothers, David Schneider of Olpe, and Dale Schneider of Lebo; five sisters, Shirley Brown of Wichita, Arlene Redeker, Rose Redeker, and Kathy Redeker all of Olpe, and Linda James of Hiawatha.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Donald Schneider, and Duane “Joe” Schneider.
Through his adult life, Dick enjoyed raising cattle and taking care of his grassland. He was a supporter of the youth in the Olpe community, and took an active part in establishing and maintaining the park. Richard spent 39 years at Panhandle Eastern before retiring in 1995. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Alexis Council #1589, and Knights of Columbus 4th Degree.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olpe. The Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Maydale Cemetery, south of Olpe.
