Rick Lee Harris, 57, formerly of Emporia, Kansas, died Monday, September 16, 2013 at his home in Grapevine, Texas.

Rick Lee Harris, the son of John and Helen Harris, was born January 10, 1956 in Topeka, Kansas. He married Alicia Gerleman, and later divorced. His longtime companion, Michelle Brandt, survives of the home.

Other surviving members of the family include: three sons, Matt Harris of Emporia, Mark Harris of Topeka, and Nathaniel Brandt of Grapevine; one brother, Mike Harris of Green Cove Springs, Florida; nine sisters, Lelah Colgrove of Topeka, Sharon Patterson, Ruth Crawford, Patti Larson, Jackie Baker, and Linda Baker, all of Emporia, Renee Cooper of Edgerton, Kansas, Denise Dill of Hartford, Kansas, and Johnnie Branch of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; a stepsister, Donna VaLizan of Spring Hill, Kansas; and four grandchildren, Jordan Kiser, Rylea Harris, Trenten Harris, and McKenna Harris.

Rick was a contractor. He enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, and field trialing, and had been a Boy Scout Leader and Camp Director. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the kids, and he enjoyed animals. While in Emporia, he was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. Father Ray May of Didde Catholic Campus Center, Emporia, will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday, September 20, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Emporia.
