Robert Steven Glover, Sr., 66, died April 30, 2013 at his home in Emporia, Kansas.

Robert was born December 7, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Robert George & Betty Louise (Rupert) Glover. He married Marijean Pickard in Kansas City, Missouri on May 28, 1966. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include: son, Robert Steven Glover, Jr. and wife Pamela of High Point, North Carolina; daughter, Jennifer L. Abernathy and husband Scott of Miami, Oklahoma; brothers, Ronald A. Glover of Owasoo, Oklahoma and Randy Glover of Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas; sisters, Cheryl Ann Glover of Lawrence, Kansas, Karen Coombs of Liberty Hill, Texas, and Kathy Meyer of Sacramento, California; grandchildren, Ian and Jenny Berg, Emily Abernathy, Dereck Abernathy, Robbie Glover, Matthew Glover, and Ashley Glover; and great-grandchild, Kian Berg.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two half-brothers.

Robert was instrumental in opening the Emporia Wal-Mart and was the store manager until his retirement in 1999. After his retirement, he sold real estate for Chuck Clark at Caldwell Banker and then did some house painting for Darrel Jones. Robert later returned to Wal-Mart as an assistant manager in Topeka, Kansas.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia, The Flint Hills Optimist Club, a former Boy Scout leader, member of the Emporia Chamber of Commerce, and a graduate of Leadership Emporia. He enjoyed golf, fishing, bird hunting, skeet shooting, and boating.

A Memorial Mass will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rosary will be recited at 10:00 A.M. Saturday prior to the Mass. The Celebrant will be Father Rich Warsnak of the church.

A memorial service will be held 3:00 P.M. Monday, May 6, 2013 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. Pastor Chester Morris of the Church of The New Covenant in Emporia will be officiating.
