Robert Reynolds Krumme

December 31, 1952 — April 7, 2025

Emporia

Robert Reynolds Krumme, Emporia, Kansas, 72, died on April 7, 2025.

Robert "Bob" was born on December 31, 1952, in Emporia, Kansas, the son of Charles F. and Josephine (Kendall) Krumme, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary G. Krumme and Mary F. Kendall. He is survived by his daughter, Carrie (Bruce) Boettcher, Emporia, Kansas; granddaughters Kelsey and Olivia Boettcher, Emporia, Kansas; brother David (Lou Ann) Krumme, Emporia, Kansas; sisters Linda (Larry) Fillnow, Monroe, Ohio; Mary (David) Davis, Lubbock, Texas; Donna Hughs, Fenton, Missouri; cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; and a great great nephew.

Bob attended Kansas State Teachers College (Emporia State University) and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Mathematics in 1976. He worked at IBP, Inc./Tyson Fresh Meats for 47 years and retired as a forklift operator in January of 2019.

Bob lived a simple life committed to family and friends. He enjoyed telling stories and was comfortable visiting with just about anyone. Bob was athletic in his younger years playing softball and basketball for years, and later in life could be found walking all around Emporia. He had a knack for analysis and could talk at length about good coffee, KU basketball, and KC Chiefs football, and attended most ESU football and basketball games. Bob was a master of the long goodbye and commonly started a new conversation as he was leaving.

Bob was a proud family man visiting with his brother and sisters weekly, often daily. He was a devoted dad who looked forward to dad-daughter dates, especially birthday lunches. He was an active grandpa frequently picking up his granddaughters from school and attending their music performances, athletic events, academic banquets, and retired in time to attend all of their high school senior year activities. He continued to cheer them on in their college endeavors. Most people that knew Bob felt they knew his daughter and granddaughters because he loved talking about their accomplishments and everyday lives on a regular basis.

Bob valued hard work and doing things right the first time, considered a trusted listener, loyal to his family and friends, and believed in having a good time. He enjoyed conversations on the patio or back deck, holidays with family, "boys trips" traveling across the U.S. and the Caribbean, pool parties, KC Chiefs parties, KC Royals games, Late Night at Allen Field House, family trips, and any occasion was good enough for food and drink.

Bob will be remembered as a kind, welcoming, honest, trusted, loving Christian who enjoyed life.
