Robert “Pete” Lee Peterson, 88, of Emporia, Kansas, died Thursday, August 22, 2013 at his home.

Robert Lee Peterson was born May 11, 1925 in Audubon, Iowa, the son of Thorvald and Harriet (Petersen) Peterson. Robert was a masonry contractor, and owned and operated his own business. He was a member of the Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion, Emporia, and the United States Bowling Congress. Robert bowled in many leagues over the years and had a passion for bowling.

Robert married Marjorie Marten on December 31, 1950 in Harlan, Iowa. They later divorced. He then married Vel Thomas in Las Vegas, Nevada and they later divorced.

Robert is survived by: longtime companion, JoAnn Woods of the home; sons, Ty Lane Peterson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Eddy Keith Hall of Olathe, Kansas; daughters, Tresa Ranee Peterson-Johnson and Tami Kay Peterson-Webb both of Emporia; brother, Vernon Peterson of Oakland, California; grandchildren, Clint, Bryce, Brea, Brisa, Tasha, Timothy, Tiffany, Trisha, Tori, Tayla, Tyson and Haley; and great-grandchildren, Savannah, Camille, Melissa, and Landon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Richie Lee Peterson and Tres Lu Peterson; sister, Alfreda Peterson; and brothers, Merlyn Peterson and Wesley Peterson.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. Dr. Leonard Wagner of the Church of God of Prophecy in Emporia will be officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia.
