Robert Duane Watts, 74, of Emporia, Kansas, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Newman Regional Health, Emporia.

Duane was born May 28, 1940 in Emporia, the son of Daniel Newton Watts and Neva (Clemetson) Watts. He graduated from Kansas State Teachers College with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business. Duane married Ellen Sue Thomson on July 22, 1962 in Winfield, Kansas. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include: son, John Watts and wife Beth of Council Grove, Kansas; brothers, Gary Watts and wife Becky of Emporia, and Ron Watts and wife Lydia of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Joyce Beardsley and husband Charles of Emporia; and grandchildren, Mallory Watts, Nate Watts, and Carson Watts. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Duane was a member of the Sardis Congregational Church, Kansas Livestock Association, Lyon County Farm Bureau, American Bible Society, Flint Hills Antique Power Association, and was an avid supporter of Lyon County 4-H.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Victory Fellowship Church in Emporia. Pastor Gary Gooszen of the Sardis Congregational Church in Emporia will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, July 4, 2014 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, south of Emporia.
