Rodney C. “Rod” Riley, 59, of Emporia, Kansas, died Saturday, November 9, 2013 at his home.

Rodney Carl Riley, the son of Carl L. and Ruth M. Buchanan Riley, was born July 3, 1954 in Emporia. He married Patricia “Trish” Miranda on April 20, 1974, in Coffeyville, Kansas.

Survivors include: his wife Trish of the home; his daughter and spouse, Mary and Allen Pate of Emporia; two sons and spouses, Travis and Carina Riley of Wichita and Jesse and Erin Riley of Galva; one sister, Janet Parks of Emporia; three grandchildren, McKinsey West, Tanner Riley, and Jarett Riley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both his parents, Carl and Ruth Riley.

Rod had been Senior Manager of Operations Testing and Rules for the BNSF Railway, having worked for BNSF for 41 years. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the United Transportation Union, the Marion County Chapter of Pheasants Forever, and the Quail Forever organization.

Cremation is planned.

Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia. The Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Rich Warsnak of the church. Interment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 P.M. Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
