Rodolfo "Rudy" Hernandez

Rodolfo “Rudy” Hernandez of Emporia passed away, at the age of 50, on Friday, June 26, 2020 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

Rudy was born on January 21, 1970 in Laredo, Texas to Manuel and Sara Escobedo Hernandez. He moved to Emporia in 1989 and later married Lucy Monreal on January 1, 1998 in Emporia where she still resides.

Surviving family members include: wife, Lucy Hernandez of Emporia; daughters, Belinda (Zackary) Huff of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Samantha (Manuel) Estrada of Emporia, and Yexinia Hernandez of Emporia; grandsons, Kylen and Alexei Estrada, and Jamison Huff; mother, Sara Hernandez; brothers, Manuel Hernandez, Jr., Albert Hernandez, and Francisco Hernandez all of Laredo, Texas; sisters, Teresa Hernandez and Araceli Gutierrez both of Laredo, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his father Manuel, brother Gerardo Hernandez, and sisters Belinda and Araceli Hernandez. Rudy worked in quality control at Tyson for 19 years, and was a member of Centro Cristiano de Emporia. Rudy lived holding two things close to his heart; his faith, and his family. Rudy lived with a faith and devotion to God that served as an inspiration to all who knew him, and a love that touched all he encountered.

A viewing will be held on Monday for anyone who wishes to come see and say goodbye to Rudy from 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. The family is asking that the hours of 1:00-4:00p.m. be reserved for only family. Any close friends wishing to can attend the viewing from 4:00-6:00p.m. Cremation is planned with a private service at a later date. Memorial contributions to the National Kidney Foundation can be sent in care of the funeral home.
