Ronald L. Brammell, 80, of Emporia, Kansas, died on December 1, 2011 at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.
Ronald was born on August 19, 1931 in Sedgwick, Kansas, the son of Howard F. Brammell, Sr., and Ruth E. Redding. He married JoAnn E. Brown-Gordon on June 18, 1951 in Strong City, Kansas. She survives of the home.
Other surviving family members include: son, Ronald R. Brammell and wife Michele of Emporia; daughter, Rhonda J. Wood and husband Gregory of Thetford, Vermont; grandchildren, Kana Johnson of Quechee, Vermont, Tyson Brammell of Bradford, Vermont, and Andrea Brammell of Stanley, Kansas; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Joyce E. Chilton of Wichita, Kansas.
He is preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Donald Brammell; and a brother, Howard F. Brammell, Jr.
Ronald graduated from the Elmdale High School in 1949. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad from 1951 to 1985 and was an engineer. He was a member of Brotherhood Locomotive Firemen and the Brotherhood Locomotive Engineer. He served in the United States Marine Corps. Ronald was a member of First United Methodist Church, Antique Car Club in Emporia, North East Kansas Beekeeper Association, and Precinct Committee Men in Emporia.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home with Pastor Jeannie Jensen of the First United Methodist Church conducting the service. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday, December 5, 2011 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions to the Emporia Senior Center may be sent in care of the funeral home.
