Ronald “Ron” Eddie Guthrie, 72 of Emporia passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.
Ron was born February 6, 1948 in Claremore, Oklahoma the son of Clarence Eddie and Neta (Grantham) Guthrie. He received his bachelor’s degree from Emporia State University. Ron worked in the Grocery Industry having worked in management at both Reeble’s and Price Chopper in Emporia. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids, playing golf and watching Emporia State University and Oklahoma University Athletics.
On August 10, 1968 Ron married Catherine Lee in Emporia. They later divorced. He is survived by son Travis Guthrie and wife Jessica of Emporia, daughter Kindra Roudybush and husband James of Salina, Kansas, brother Michael Guthrie and wife JoAnn of Marietta, Georgia, sister Carolyn Sue Redding of Emporia, grandchildren Nichole and Erica Granado, Karlee and Myah Roudybush and great-grandchildren Xavier, Alex and Gabriel Gomez. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Jess Redding.
Due to the current restrictions a Celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Emporia Golf Course Youth Fund and sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
