Ronald Lee Miller, 70, of Emporia, Kansas, died September 15, 2011 at his home.
Ronald Lee Miller was born May 20, 1941 in Strong City, Kansas, the son of William Leroy & Shirley Carolyn (Cooper) Miller. He married Sharon Kay Gomez on June 5, 1960 in Emporia, Kansas and they later divorced. He then married Virginia Clark in Miami, Oklahoma and they later divorced.
He is survived by: sons, Jeffrey “Jeff” Miller of Olpe, Kansas, and Scott Miller of Emporia; stepson, William “Willie” Abbott of Emporia; daughters, Leanne Miller of Olathe, Kansas, and Sarah McKernan of Emporia; stepdaughter, Michele Abbott of Emporia; brother, Richard “Rick” Miller of Emporia; sisters, Marie Wecker of Olpe, Judith Glover of Coco Beach, Florida, Cathryn Colton of Kansas City, Missouri, and Cynthia Johnson of Ankeny, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William “Danny” Miller; and sisters, Joni Miller and Linda Miller.
Ronald graduated from Roosevelt High School in Emporia, Kansas. He retired in 1998 a line foreman for Westar Energy after working for 33 years for KP&L/Westar. He was a member of the Emporia Masonic Lodge #12, AFAM; International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; and the National Rifle Association.
Cremation is planned. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, September 23, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Congregational Church in Emporia. Inurnment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Pastor Andrew McHenry of the First Congregational Church will be officiating.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Emporia Arts Council, and sent in care of the funeral home.
