Ronnie K. Swint, 69, of Emporia, Kansas, died on March 17, 2012 at University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.
Ronnie was born on June 29, 1942 in Emporia, the son of Harold F. and Mabel D. Jones Swint. He married Carol M. VerBrugge on July 1, 1962 in Reading, Kansas. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include: sons, Kurt Swint and wife Karen of Udall, Kansas, Kevin Swint and wife Sandra of Emporia, and Ryan Swint of Emporia; daughters, Brenda Swint Hedrick and husband Steven of Newton, Kansas, and Amy Swint Speer and husband Charles P. of Emporia; sister, Karolen Swint Harrouff and husband Jim of Emporia; and grandchildren, Casey Speer Penner and Husband Blake of Wichita, Chase Speer of Overland Park, Kansas, Kyle Swint of Udall, Kendall Swint of Kansas City , Kansas, Heather Hedrick of Manhattan, Alixandra Shultz of Wichita, and Forrist Shultz of Wichita.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Ronnie was one of the founders of Kansa Corporation in Emporia. He was the vice president, and later president, before retiring six years ago. He was a follower of the Lutheran faith. Ronnie was a past president of Emporia Country Club, chairman of the board of American Aimers, and a member of Sertoma Club, Lake Kahola Cabin Owners Association, and also the Newspaper Association of America.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 22, 2012 at First United Methodist Church, Emporia. The service will be conducted by Pastor Norbert Tegtmeier of Messiah Lutheran Church in Emporia. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery, Emporia.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 21, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
