March 2, 1929 — May 2, 2018

Lawrence

The world said goodbye to a most gentle, kind and patient soul last night. Rosemary Robinson passed away at 10:47PM on May 3 rd at the Windsor in Lawrence, Kansas. At her request cremation has taken place, no services will be conducted and her family has honored those wishes. A celebration of life for Rosemary “Rose” “Rosie” Robinson, 89, will be held from 1:30-3:30PM Sunday, May 6 th at Bruff’s 2640 W 18th Avenue in Emporia.

Rosemary was born March 2, 1929 in Emporia, Kansas the daughter of Harry and Mary Ellen Lynn. She married Dwane Robinson on May 25, 1946 and they had two children: Hal and wife Janet, Safety Harbor, Florida and Debbie and husband Ron Miller, Lawrence, Kansas; one grandson Brent and wife Kelly Robinson, and two great granddaughters, Gracen and Ella, Mount Juliet, Tennessee. Rosie truly loved her husband, children, grandson and great-grandchildren. Dwane preceded her in death October 10, 2012. She will be missed but never forgotten.

Rosie worked at the Emporia State University Bookstore and for Dr. Victor Pastor.

Dwane and Rosie established a reunion for all officers and crew members of the USS Kretchmer (1943-1973) in October, 1988 in Emporia. The annual reunions have continued to this day rotating between various crew members’ hometowns across the United States and now the younger veterans are continuing this tradition. These reunions have been well-attended by both officers and crew and have been a true highpoint over the years.

Rosie loved people, baking, cooking and baseball. Her motto in life was “Food is Love” and there was never enough! She followed the Kansas City Royals faithfully through good times and bad and Rosie was leading the cheers at Brookdale Living in Shawnee, Kansas when they won the World Series in 2015. You would often observe Dwane and Rosie sitting on their front porch visiting with neighbors, sharing stories, delicious homemade goodies, and keeping a constant, watchful eye on the Whildin neighborhood. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staffs at the Windsor in Lawrence, and Vitas Hospice for their excellent care of our loved one.

Please be kind to others in her memory. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emporia Humane Society or the Emporia Zoo in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett who is assisting the family.
