Roy D. Venning, 93, Bushong, Kansas, died at Newman Regional Health in Emporia on April 29, 2016.
Roy Darrel Venning was born on August 6, 1922 in Americus, Kansas, the son of Daniel and Clara (Wisdom) Venning. He married Freda Corpening in Emporia, Kansas on September 1, 1943. She survives.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. The service will be conducted by Pastor Rick Smith, Countryside Baptist Church, Americus, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Bushong Cemetery, Bushong, Kansas.
Besides his wife, Mr. Venning is survived by his son; Darrel L. (Tammy) Venning, Valley Center, Kansas, Daughter; Sherry (Art) Corpening, Emporia, Kansas, Four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter; Danielle Corpening.
Mr. Venning worked as an auto mechanic in Council Grove. First at Hunter Sales, then Carrier Sales, and later Wilson Sales. He was also a farmer throughout his lifetime. He has been a member of the former Bushong United Methodist Church, Bushong, Kansas.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM Saturday until service time.
