Russell Guilfoil, 96, of Emporia, Kansas, formerly of Eskridge, Kansas, died on June 11, 2011 at his home.
  
  
  He was born on September 28, 1914, south of Eskridge, the son of Leslie Thorn and Valora Maud (Piper) Guilfoil. He graduated from Eskridge High School in 1931. He later married Myrtle Griffith. She died in 1995.
  
  
  Russ is survived by: his loving companion, Jean Arnett, of the home; his sister, Eunice B. (Guilfoil) Bernet of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; two nieces, Norma J. Doty (Dwayne) of Eskridge, Kansas, and Judy A. Say (Rod) of Topeka, Kansas; four nephews, Rev. Richard E. Guilfoil (Glenda), Curt Guilfoil (Gina), Greg Guilfoil, and Matthew Guilfoil all of Kansas City, Missouri; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Extended family includes: Donna Cadwallader (Neil), Colorado; Mary Wilson (James) Florida; Cindy Gotta (Alan), Nebraska; and Gail Arnett, Colorado.
  
  
  He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife; two brothers, Elden Guilfoil, and Ralph Guilfoil; and a great nephew, Brad Say.
  
  
  Russ never left the family farm or his love of the land where he proudly provided and cared for his parents. He retired in 2004 to Emporia and continued to enjoy his ability for dancing with other senior citizen friends around the area. The last few years he provided a dance in celebration of his birthday, including five family generations present. A “Great” story teller of “the good old days,” reflected his excellent memory and health throughout his wonderful life’s journey.
  
  
  Graveside services will be held at the Eskridge Cemetery, Eskridge, Kansas, on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. The service will be conducted by Pastor Richard E. Guilfoil of the Lakeview Church of the Nazarene in Topeka. Family visitation will be at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M.
