The graveside service for Ruth Mary Riley, Emporia, will be held at the Patio Garden of Memorial Lawn Cemetery on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. The service will be conducted by Pastor Norbert Tegtmeier, Messiah Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Memorial Lawn. Mrs. Riley was 90.
Ruth Mary Buchanan was born in Marquette, Kansas on September 11, 1920, the daughter of Ray and Ula Augusta “Bob” (Brooks) Buchanan. She married Carl L. Riley at Hutchinson, Kansas on September 1, 1940. He died April 17, 2003.
Surviving family members include: son, Rod Riley of Emporia; daughter, Janet Parks of Emporia; brother, Bruce Buchanan of Little River, Kansas; and sisters, Betty Byard of Salina, Kansas and Claris Hunsinger, Lawrence, Kansas; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, a sister, and three half-sisters.
She was a homemaker.
