Ruth M. Rumage, 98, of Gardner, Kansas, died on August 5, 2014 at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas.
Ruth was born on May 10, 1916 in Emporia, the daughter of Robert and Anna Elizabeth Groh Simmons. She married John Edward Rumage on March 31, 1936 in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas. He died on April 6, 1978 in Topeka, Kansas.
Ruth is survived by: her daughters, Caroline Ross Bonilla of Shawnee, Kansas, and Marietta Woodson of Omaha, Nebraska; eight grandchildren; twenty four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, and a son, Charles R. Rumage.
Ruth worked as a Loan Officer at Home State Bank in Kansas City, Kansas. She later worked for TWA as a Credit Approval Officer in the Get Away Credit Card Department, and also in the advertising department for the Lindale News in Lindale, Texas. Ruth was a Methodist. She was the Past President of the Kansas City Missouri Women’s Credit Breakfast Club, and was a member of the Ladies Garden Club in Lindale, Texas.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia. Memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society may be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia.
