Sam K. Wagoner, 84, of Emporia died on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Holiday Resort, Emporia.

Sam was born on July 9, 1930 in Strong City, Kansas, the son of Fred E. and Gladys Sampson Wagoner. He married Marylou Fagan on January 3, 1951 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia. She survives of the home.

Other surviving family members are: his sons, Jim (Elisa) Wagoner of Shawnee, Kansas, and Eddie (Wendy) Wagoner of Gilbert, Arizona; daughters, Sandi (Timothy) Bosiljevac of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Teri (Dennis) Adkins of Marion, Kansas, Lori (Patrick) Clark of Emporia, Kay Smith of Topeka, and Kelli (Patrick) Butcher of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; sisters, LaVeta Starns of Lyons, Kansas, and Myrna Drummond of Salina, Kansas; eighteen grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Sam is preceded in death by his great-grandson, Bentley Clark.

Sam worked for 7-Up Bottling, and was a co-owner of the Texaco station at 12th and Merchant. He was a homebuilder for 25 years, and later a storm adjuster for eight years, before retiring in 2000. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia. Sam served in the United States Army, and was a member of the American Legion, and VFW, both of Emporia.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, August 1, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M., Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the church. Inurnment will follow the Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Emporia, with military honors.
