Sandra Ruth Moore, 60, of Emporia, Kansas died Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.
Sandy was born November 12, 1955 in Emporia, Kansas, the daughter of James M. and Clara R. (Lamb) Read. A lifelong resident of Emporia, Sandy cherished the many friendships she made in the community. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Alter Society.
Sandy’s marriage to Tedd Gfeller gave her the blessing of two children, her daughter Molly and her son S.J. She later met the love of her life, Rick Moore, and they married on June 10, 1989 in Emporia. With Rick, her family was whole, and in their nearly 27 years of marriage, Sandy learned more every day that love, companionship and strength are found in both the family that you are born into and the family that you grow into.
Sandy took great pleasure in spending time with her five grandchildren, and she enjoyed reading, embroidery and any activity that brought her closer to her family and friends.
Sandy is survived by her husband Rick. Other survivors include her mother Clara Read of Emporia; parents-in-law Richard and Wanda Moore of Auburn, Kansas; sister Debbie West and her husband Richard of Modoc, Kansas; sister-in-law Roxie Huhs and her husband Mark of Auburn; daughter Molly Atchison and her husband Joe of Tonganoxie, Kansas; son S.J. Moore and his wife Katie of Shawnee, Kansas; step-daughter Tina Gfeller of Shawnee; nieces and nephews Davin, Riannon, D.J., Rolaina, Blake and Emily; and grandchildren Bryce, Sadie, Allie, Jayce Teddy and Chloe. She was preceded in death by her father.
Cremation is planned. Services will be at a later date.
