Sara M. Cannon

Sara M. Cannon, 90, of Emporia died Monday, August 27, 2018 at Holiday Resort Care Center in Emporia.

Sara Marie Lewis, the daughter of Lemuel and Sarah Morris Lewis was born May 27, 1928 in Emporia. She married Robert Lee Cannon on November 19, 1950 at the Sardis Congregational Church south of Emporia. He died on July 11, 2009.

She is survived by a daughter, Judy (Terry) Rockley of Olpe; a son Larry (Janet) Cannon of rural Emporia; six grandkids, Brent (Susan) Rockley of Rose Hill, Cory (Jessica) Cannon of Seoul, South Korea, Lisa (Adam) Rockley-Cline of Lenexa, April (Joe) Tucker of Canton, Angela (John) Parriott of Bonner Springs, and Cody Cannon of Emporia; and eight great-grandchildren.

Sara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; one brother and one sister.

Sara was an elementary school teacher at Virgil and USD 252. And she also drove a school bus. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, the Flint Hills Regional Quilting Guild, the Happy Homemakers Unit, and Eagle Creek Saddle Club.

The funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett. Services will be conducted by Pastor Bob Robison of the First Christian Church in Madison. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery south of Emporia. The family will visit with friends from 7:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett.

Memorial donations to either the Sardis Congregational Church or the Lyon County 4-H may be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett.
