Sarah “Sally” Ann Hahn, 75, of Overland Park, Kansas, and formerly of Emporia, passed into her heavenly home Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park.
Sally was born on October 18, 1937 in Emporia, the daughter of Fred J. and Margaret Shafer O’Brien. She married Ralph J. Hahn on May 29, 1960 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Emporia. They were married 43 years.
Surviving family members include her sons, Jim Hahn and wife Annalie of Chandler, Arizona, and Michael Hahn of Lakewood, Colorado; her daughter, Mary Shriver of Olathe, Kansas; granddaughters, Emma and Erin Shriver; a sister, Mary Dougherty and husband Don of Gold Canyon, Arizona.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Sally earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas, where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She went on to receive her Master of Library Science degree from Emporia State University. She was a homemaker, and active member of the Catholic Church.
Sally loved nature, especially gardening and bird watching. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, and eating wonderful food. Sally was an avid reader and actively involved in bridge and book clubs. She delighted in spending time with her two granddaughters, as well as the rest of her family. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Cremation has taken place, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 23, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
