Sharon Kay Barnett

Sharon Kay Barnett of Emporia died on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.  She was 85.

Sharon was born on May 10, 1940, in Abilene, Kansas, the daughter of Joe E. and Mildred M. Oliver Moss.  She married Edward Charles "Monk" Barnett on September 10, 1960, in Emporia.  He died on April 29, 2017, in Emporia.

Surviving family members include her son, Mike (Monica) Barnett of Emporia; daughters, Kelly Barnett and Brooke (Jim) Richard both of Emporia; grandchildren, Drew (Amanda) Barnett, Dack (Sarah) Barnett, Riley Barnett, Breckin Barnett, and Baylee Richard; great-grandchildren, Nora, Whit, Remi, and Rhys Barnett.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister Vonda Meredith.

Sharon was a Homemaker.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Emporia with burial following at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.  The rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service.  The family requested no flowers with memorial contributions to H.
