Sharron Lee Slider, 64, Emporia, Kansas, died Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Flint Hills Care Center, Emporia.
Sharron was born November 11, 1948 at Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Kenneth George and Elizabeth (Bergen) Holmes. She was raised by her mother, Elizabeth, and her adopted father, James M. Shepherd.
Surviving family members includes her brother, Ray Shepherd and wife Bonnie of Lake Ozark, Missouri; and a daughter Adrienne Olson of California.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her father.
Sharron graduated from Newton High School, and later attended Pittsburg State University, studying music. In the mid 1980’s she made Emporia her final home. She joined the Free Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, and worked at JC Penney. Sharron loved cats and the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, conducted by Pastor Rob Clausen, First Baptist Church. Cremation is planned. Sharron’s wishes were for everyone to wear their Chiefs clothing.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to A.S.P.C.A. or to a no-kill animal shelter of the donor’s choice, and sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
