Shelby L. Zimmerman, 91, Emporia, Kansas, died at his home on Saturday, February 15, 2014.
  
  
  
  Shelby Lewis Zimmerman was born in Isabella, Oklahoma on December 13, 1922, the son of Andrew and Eda (Fuller) Zimmerman. He married Mary Conley November 14, 1942, they later divorced. He later married Mattie Montene Shirley April 22, 1970. She died August 14, 2003.
  
  
  
  Surviving family members include: a son, Larry Zimmerman, Mustang, Oklahoma; daughters, Grace Gray, Anchorage, Alaska, Patricia Calvery, Flowery Branch, Georgia, and Sherry Reddick, Enid, Oklahoma; stepdaughters, Lucrecia Eubanks, Emporia, Nancy Sipes, Wellington, Kansas, and Cecilia Holeman, Amarillo, Texas; a brother, Enos Zimmerman, Fort Scott, Kansas; nineteen grandchildren; and many great-grand and great-great-grandchildren.
  
  
  
  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Zimmerman.
  
  
  
  Mr. Zimmerman was employed as a machinist with Boeing Aircraft at Wichita for 32 years. He was a Navy veteran, serving in World War II, and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
  
  
  
  A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, Kansas. Military Graveside Honors will be presented by the Kansas Military Honors Team.
  
  
  
  The family will receive friends at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, on Wednesday evening, February 19, 2014 from 7:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
  
  
  
  A memorial has been established with Emporia Friends of the Zoo. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
