Shelley Renee Lewis

Shelley Renee (Grother) Lewis of Americus, Kansas, died February 10, 2025, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas, with loved ones at her side. She was 61 years old.

Shelley was born on February 3, 1964, in Emporia, Kansas, the daughter of Ronald and Susan (Briggs) Grother and the first child of five. She was a graduate of Northern Heights High School, class of 1982. She married Kirk Lewis at Messiah Lutheran Church in Emporia, Kansas, on May 7, 1983.

Shelley is survived by her husband of 42 years, Kirk; daughters Sarah (Lewis) Pangburn, Americus, Kansas; Erin (Andrew) Vaughn, Eudora, Kansas; son, Jacob Lewis, Americus, Kansas; and two grandchildren, Charles Pangburn and Theodore Vaughn.

Other survivors include her mother, Susan Grother, Americus, Kansas; sisters Rebecca Zimmer, Emporia, Kansas; Laura Grother and her partner Michael Waddington, Sante Fe, New Mexico; brother Benjamin Grother, Aurora, Colorado; nephew John Zimmer and niece Kathryn Zimmer, Dallas, Georgia.

She is preceded in death by her father, Ronald Gene Grother, her brother John Grother, and her grandparents.

Shelley dedicated her life to family. She took pride in being a mother, caretaker and homemaker, and was an excellent baker. She loved holiday get-togethers and playing board games with the family.

Cremation is planned with private burial at a later date. Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 2:00 P.M., at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1101 Neosho, Emporia, Kansas, 66801. Roberts-Blue-Barnett is assisting the family with arrangements.
