Shirley Temple Slaymaker 82 passed away peacefully on June 7, 2018.   She was at home with husband Ron by her side.  They had recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.  Shirley was born on November 5 1935 in Newton, Kansas the daughter of Macloren and Marie (Frye) Temple.  She attended school in Peabody and graduated valedictorian  in her class in 1953.  She attended Kansas State Teacher College and started her teaching career in Valley Center with a 60 hour certificate.   After graduation  in 1960 she taught business and was school counselor at Neosho Rapids High School  and at Roosevelt High School.   Shirley  received her Masters degree in 1962 from Kansas State Teacher College and her Doctorate degree from Arkansas University in  1970.  After teaching  for 10 years in the Business Department at Kansas State Teachers College she was a realtor with Mc Cracken  Real Estate  for 7 years.  In 2003 Shirley owned and operated Poehler Antique Mall .   Her love of antiques followed her to her last days.
