Stephanie Dawn (Smith) Bachert, 48, passed away May 15, 2025, at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.
Stephanie was born Sept. 29, 1976, in Olathe, the daughter of Lynn and Steven Smith. She married Kevin Bachert on March 21, 2015.
Stephanie was a journeyman wireman and member of IBEW Local Union 226. She was the first woman to be elected to the IBEW 226 Executive Board.
In 2014, she survived a life-threatening accident and courageously defied expectations.
She is survived by her husband; daughter Julie Brady; mother; and brother Sherman Smith (Jessica). She was preceded in death by her father.
A celebration of life will be scheduled later.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hand in Hand Hospice and sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, 605 State Street, Emporia, Kansas 66801.
