Stephen Michael Gilligan

Stephen Michael Gilligan, Neosho Rapids, Kansas, died September 19, 2024, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, Kansas. He was 72 years old.

Stephen was born on November 10, 1951, in Emporia, Kansas, the son of Dennis and Edna (Woods) Gilligan. He married Linda Meeks in 2006. She died on April 1, 2010.

Survivors include daughters Penny Gilligan-Gowin (Frank Drummond) Columbus, OH; Brandi (Jesus) Moreno, Abilene, TX; son Robert Gilligan, Neosho Rapids, KS; brother Ronald Gilligan, Overland Park, KS; sisters Stella Free, Emporia, KS; Rita Wagers, Neosho Rapids, KS; Sue Bahm, Overland Park, KS; Teresa (Terry) Barrett, Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren Branden Elder, Andrew Moreno, Bella Moreno, Korbyn Gilligan, Tyler Ward, Ayden Gowin, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers Donald Gilligan, Tim Gilligan, Gilbert Gilligan, and sister Kay Slead.

After high school, Stephen enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served 20 years as an Aircraft Fuel System Technician. Once he retired from the Air Force he worked in landscaping, finally retiring after 15 years.

Cremation is planned. Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Saint Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, 2289 Highway 95, Hartford, Kansas, 66854. A Celebration of Life will be held following the graveside service at the Hartford Community Center.
