Steve O'Neal

Steve O’Neal, Winfield, Kansas, age 68, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at his home surrounded by his daughter.

Steve was born April 7, 1958 at Newman Memorial County Hospital in Emporia, Kansas to Verland and Dorothy (Ross) O’Neal.

Steve married the love of his life, Mary L. Harrier, on December 29, 1979 at the Messiah Lutheran Church, Emporia. From this union they had a beautiful daughter, Sarah.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law; Sarah and Nick Arent, three amazing grandchildren; Ranee, Sydney, and Tyler Arent, his in-laws; Ruth Hasty, David Harrier, and Fred (Rite) Harrier, and companion; Emma.

Steve worked at John North Ford-Nissan on Emporia off and on for forty-two years, He enjoyed working with his hands. He even built a home out of two construction trailers. He was the type of man who made sure everything was taken care of.

Steve was also preceded in death by his parents; Verland and Dorothy, his wife of thirty-one years, Mary.

The family will receive friends at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, on Tuesday, November 3, 2026 from 11:00 AM until departure for the cemetery. The Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM at the Fairview Cemetery, south of Olpe, Kansas.
