Steve Robert Pio

Steve Robert Pio, 73 of rural Allen, Kansas died Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.

Steve was born December 28, 1947 in Council Grove, Kansas the son of Melvin and Agnes (Behrens) Pio. He was a cattle rancher and worked 22 years for Iowa Beef Processors retiring in 1992. Steve enjoyed welding, playing cards and collecting wrenches (a hobby he started as a boy). When he was younger he enjoyed riding in shodeos. Steve enjoyed being the local “gadabout” daily visiting his friends, and they looked forward to seeing him.

On April 12, 1969 Steve married Karen McCreath in White City, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include daughters Amanda Ellis and husband Chris of Eudora, Kansas, Liza VanSickle and husband Fred of Ava, Missouri, Amber Anderson and husband Caleb of Reading, Kansas, brother Rex Pio of Edgerton, Kansas, sister Kelly Fleming of Edgerton, grandchildren Abbie Satterfield, Grace VanSickle, Samuel VanSickle, Sarah VanSickle, Elijah VanSickle, Susannah VanSickle, Faith VanSickle, Daniel John Wesley VanSickle, Mary VanSickle, Hope Anderson, Elorah Ellis, and Ben Ellis. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Willetta Krause, and a granddaughter Isabelle Ellis.

Cremation is planned. Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Steve’s home, 788 Road 340 Allen, Kansas. Please bring your lawn chairs. Pastor Diane Euler of the Allen, Admire and Miller United Methodist Churches will be officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
