Steven W. Butcher, 68, of Emporia died on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.
Steve was born on May 15, 1948, in Emporia, Kansas the son of Thomas P. and Freda Dickey Butcher. He married Ruby Patton on June 6, 1981 in Emporia. She survives.
Surviving include: wife, Ruby; daughters, Danika Galindo and husband Grande of Emporia, and Melanie Galindo of Wichita; brother, Jeffrey Butcher and wife Kathie of Donna, Texas; sister, Nancy Linden and husband Lu of Baltimore, Maryland; grandchildren, Rolando Galindo, Matthew Galindo, Frankie Galindo, Patrick Galindo, and Sammy Galindo; seven great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, infant son Jonas Christopher Butcher, and great-grandson Elian Martin Galindo.
Steve was in the Heating and Air Conditioning business for 45 years and 33 years of that he co-owned Butcher-Peterson Heating and Air. He was a member of the NRA, Quail Unlimited where he served on the board and was a Past President, ECC Men’s Golf Association, and served on the board at the Emporia County Club.
Funeral services will be 10:30 Friday, June 24, 2016 at the First Baptist Church, Emporia. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. The family request no flowers with memorial contributions to Emporia Friends of the Zoo, Buck Animal Welfare Fund or the All Veterans Memorial in care of the funeral home.
