Sue Victoria Claridge of Emporia died on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. She was 60.
Sue was born on August 15, 1961 in Baytown, Texas the daughter of Timothy and Martha Mosley Griffith.
Surviving family members include: her children, Lux Ailbhe Claridge and fiancé Jessica Danford, and David Austin Claridge and partner Vades Tapp both of Emporia, her foster children, Tracy Keck, Deshawn Mosttler, and Roberto Martinez.
She is preceded in death by her mother Martha Griffith and aunt Inez Martin.
Sue was a stay-at-home parent to raise her children and the occasional foster child. As an avid flutist, she eventually went back to school to obtain her master’s in music performance. Sue also worked with autistic children and their families, advocating for more accessible mental health care in Kansas, assisting low-income families, and started a writing career before fighting cancer again.
Cremation is planned with a Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. Visitation will start an hour prior to the service. The family request no flowers with donations going to MD Anderson Cancer Center in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, Kansas 66801.
