Tammie Lou Burns of Emporia died on Friday, December 23, 2022 at her home. She was 55.
Tammie was born on December 3, 1967 in Gravette, Arkansas the daughter of Phillip and Cricket Proctor Rogers. She married David Kirk Burns on July 20, 2007 in Pawnee City, Nebraska. He survives at the home.
Surviving family members include: husband, David Kirk Burns of Emporia; sons, Mitchell Alexander Lindsey and Zachary Aaron Lindsey; daughter, Maggie Elaine Mendes; sister Sheila Kaye McKinzie; parents, William Phillip and Glenda Louella Rogers; grandchildren, Alora Elaine Richmond, Aria Leanne Mendes, Nyla Rae Mendes, Penelope Rose Mendes, and Clementine May Mendes. Tammie also has nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends who she considers family that she loved with all of her heart.
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents William Francis and Eddyth Rogers, maternal grandparents Ed Bert and Mary E. Proctor, uncles Edward Proctor and Quintin Ray Rogers, aunts Lewanna Bearpaw and Frances Madlock, brother-in-law Glenn Eugene McKinzie and cousin Carol Prater.
Tammie was in the United States Army and served in Desert Storm as a Mail Clerk. She was a member of the Cherokee Nation in Tahlequah and a member of the DAV.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 2, 2023 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home with burial following at the Wilmington Cemetery with military honors by Ball-McColm Post #5 American Legion and Lowry-Funston Post #1980 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Memorial contributions to help with expenses can be made out to David Burns and sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, Kansas 66801.
