Teia Carlene Payton, 17, of Hartford died Wednesday, July 1, 2015 in Hartford.
Teia was born on August 30, 1997 in Emporia, Kansas the daughter of William C. and Annabelle McGinley Payton.
She is survived by: parents, William and Annabelle Payton of Hartford; brother, John Payton of Bel Aire, Kansas; sisters, Ashley Payton of Emporia, and Corrine Payton of Hartford; grandmother, Rosemary Payton of Hartford; great-grandmother, Bess Payton of Concordia; numerous aunts and uncles; and a niece and a nephew as well as several cousins.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Tom and Wanda McGinley, and grandfather, Ronald Payton.
Teia attended Hartford Senior High School, earning her diploma May 2015. During this time she participated in newspaper and yearbook, high school plays, the Athletic Christian Team, and served as the manager for the Hartford High Boys Basketball team. She was proud to be a Hartford Jaguar and captured several memories through her photography.
Cremation is planned with a memorial service at 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Hartford High School. Visitation will be 6:30 P.M., Tuesday evening at the Hartford Community Center. Private interment will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Hartford.
