Thelma Ann Fox of Emporia died on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor.  She was 85.

Thelma was born on March 22, 1934 in Emporia, Kansas the daughter of Rufus and Anna Kettner Allen.  She married Franklin Fox on August 12, 1957 in Ashland, Kansas.  They later divorced.

Thelma was known for her kind heart and giving nature. She graduated from the Emporia School of Nursing and was a registered nurse in the Mineola area for many years. She was very proud of this accomplishment and enjoyed caring for others. Later in life she volunteered her time, with her sister, delivering Meals on Wheels.

Family was the center of Thelma’s world. She remained close to her sister Marilyn over the years. Even living next door for several years. Thelma was always present with an ear and a hug for anyone who needed it. She was very treasured by her family.

She was given the name Lovey by her first grandchild and the name kept for all her grandchildren. She spent a lot of time with her grandchildren. She taught them how to bake, craft, would let them play dress up with her stuff, taught them songs such as “You Are My Sunshine”, would let them just talk and hang out. She was a confidant and a sanctuary.

Surviving family members include: sons, James Allen of Holton and Curtis Fox of Emporia, daughter Margaret Spain of Strong City, Kansas; twelve grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers James and Charles Allen, sister Marilyn Langley.

Cremation has taken place with a private service at a later date.
