Thelma Eileen Humphreys, 86 of Emporia died on December 23, 2010 at the Holiday Resort Care Center, Emporia, Kansas.
  
  
  Thelma was born on May 24, 1924 in Emporia, Kansas the daughter of Samuel E. and Adar (Brown) Macomber. She married Kenneth L. Humphreys, Sr. on January 18, 1942 in Emporia, Kansas. He died on November 19, 1983 in Emporia, Kansas.
  
  
  Surviving family members include: sons, Kenneth L. Humphreys, Jr. of Everton, Arkansas, and Samuel G. Humphreys and wife Lynn of Emporia; daughters, Mary Lowery and husband Louis of Winfield, Kansas, and Susan J. Blackford and husband Joe of Manhattan, Kansas; grandchildren, Michelle Vermilyea, Mike Lowery, Jason Lowery, Lisa Lowery, Sunnin Keosybounheuang, Serrell Aranda, Samantha Rhoads, and Dustin Humphreys; fourteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
  
  
  She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; and a sister, Ardyce Siler.
  
  
  For many years, Thelma worked in the men’s department at Montgomery Ward in Emporia and then later at Dolly Madison Bakery in the accounting department from 1965 to the early 1990’s. She was a member First Baptist Church in Emporia, Altrusa, and M.O.P.S. at the church. She delivered meals-on-wheels for the Emporia Senior Center, and was a member of Lowry-Funston Post #1980 Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and Ball-McColm Post #5 American Legion Auxiliary. She also belonged to a local Garden Club.
  
  
  Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. The service will be conducted by Pastor Jason Lowery, Pastor Todd Vermilyea, and Pastor Rob Clausen. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery south of Emporia. The family will receive friends Monday night from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
  
  
  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the First Baptist Church, Hospice Care of Kansas, or the Emporia Senior Center may be sent in care of the funeral home.
