Theresa M. Redeker, 92, of Olpe, Kansas, passed away Friday, May 24, 2013 at Emporia Presbyterian Manor.
Theresa Marie Scheve, the daughter of John and Martha Thill Scheve, was born October 15, 1920 in rural Lyon County. She married Joseph John Redeker on May 6, 1941 at the St. Mary Catholic Church in the Maydale community south of Olpe. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1975.
Surviving members of the family include: her son, Francis Redeker of Olpe; two sisters, Bertha Trear of Olpe, and Mary Lou Burenheide of Topeka, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Shelly Marshall, Steven Redeker, Cynthia Barnard, Justin Redeker, William Redeker, Anthony Redeker, and Kimberly McNeese; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Theresa was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Ralph Redeker; five brothers, Lawrence, Charles, Ralph, Edward and Johnny Scheve; and two sisters, Eleanor Schneider and Geneva Schneider.
She was a farm wife, a coordinator of the meals at the Olpe Senior Center, and worked at the Olpe State Bank for 30 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the St. Anne Alter Society of the church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olpe. Fr. John Cordes will celebrate the Mass. The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M. Monday, May 27, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Memorial contributions to either the St Joseph Catholic Cemetery Endowment Fund or the Olpe Knights of Columbus Building Fund may be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
