Thomas "T.G." George Humphreys

Thomas George “T.G.” Humphreys, 64, of Emporia, Kansas, died on June 20, 2011 at Newman Regional Health, Emporia.

Tom was born on January 8, 1947 in Emporia, Kansas, the son of Griffith G. “Junior.” and Hanna M. (Schaefer) Humphreys. He married Sandra Bishop on January 20, 1968 at the First Christian Church in Emporia, Kansas. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include: daughter, Alicia Redeker and husband Ryan, of Olpe, Kansas; grandsons, Hunter and Dawson Redeker of Olpe; brother, Charles W. Humphreys of Safford, Arizona; sisters, Phyllis M. Giffin of Waverly, Kansas, and Alice M. Jones of Emporia; stepsisters, Minnie Baldridge of Paola, Kansas, and Joyce Keibler of Wellington, Kansas.

He is preceded in death by: his father Griffith G. Humphreys, Jr.; mother, Hanna Humphreys-Goodell; stepfather, Joseph L. Goodell; and stepbrother, Jerry Goodell.

Tom was a network technician for AT&T/Southwestern Bell for thirty-five years in the Emporia area before retiring nine years ago. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion in Emporia, and Lowry-Funston Post #1980, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Emporia. Tom was an avid motorcyclist and fisherman.

The Celebration of Life Visitation will be held on Friday, June 24, 2011, at Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion in Emporia, from 2:00 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. The family suggests casual dress. Cremation has taken place.
